Modul making

The mould making technique involves duplicating any decorated, simple or compound object in numerous types of material, including stones, waxes and resins.

Various types of material, including stone, resin, cement, polyurethane and wax can be poured into it to create an accurately detailed reproduction of the original.

Mould making techniques are used to make products such as candles, candle holders, soaps, souvenirs, ornaments for gardens, churches, façades and interiors, imitation stone, capitals, shower trays, etc..

Condensation Silicones – Tin Cure

Condensation silicones are less dimensionally stable than poly-addition silicones, but are well suited to this process as they enable production costs to be kept down.

Special "non flammable" curing agents have been developed specifically for markets outside the EU, permitting safe air and sea transport without additional transport costs.

General characteristics

Zhermack's range of silicones for this type of application offers a choice of hardnesses.

Poly-addition silicones are incompatible with amines, metal salts, sulphides, plasticine and tin-based polycondensation catalysts. 

Unlike these, Zhermack polycondensation silicones are less sensitive when they come into contact with the above substances. They can also be used to restore objects and surfaces.

These Zhermack products guarantee excellent dimensional stability over time, high mechanical resistance and excellent fluidity, and come in a versatile range of formulas.

 

Tips

For correct use and to obtain the final product characteristics, use poly-addition silicones at a ratio of 1 part A-base:1 part B-cat. The surface must be completely clean. Once the products have been poured, the components should be mixed vigorously for about 60" until a homogeneous compound is obtained. The product should then be poured from a recommended height of about 30 cm.

Polycondensation products, on the other hand, are used in combination with a catalyst (at 5%). Once the components have been poured, they should be mixed following the same procedure as for addition silicones. Store the product at a temperature between 5°/25°C. Close the bottles tightly after use.
